SUBJECT.CH.
Table of Contents
We provide a repository of raster maps. We have geographical map of the natural earth.
We have satellit images and several false color images, about energy, vegetation and human activities all
over the world.
We provide a world wide set of vector layers. The provided shapes are country borders, hypsometry, rivers and lakes, urban areas, roads, railways etc ...
We provide a UMN-MapServer. The server handles raster maps from a repository and vector shape layers
from a
PostGIS database. The service provides the map contents over the WMS or WFS web map services.
Maps can be requested with HTML, with a TWiki plugin, with Perl, PHP or Python Mapscript or with the java-script library
OpenLayers. We propose a set of map client interfaces.
We provide Mapbender as geographical map portal. The user can manage the WMS and WFS connections, and
set up new map interfaces, which can be included in other web sites.
All the map content can be requested over WMS and WFS. The UMN-MapServer is capable to incorporate
WMS or WFS map contents, which are provided by other geographical map servers.
Vector layers are saved in a
PostGIS database. The client can access the database over a
PostgreSQL
client or over phpPgAdmin. The user can apply complex geographical
PostGIS functions to generate
new views for geographical requests. The user can also save geographical metadata into the shape tables.
We provide some Open
GIS documentations on this TWiki. The Twiki can be a first introduction to topics
of Open
GIS systems. The content is not meant for
GIS experts.
We also propose a collection of user documentations, available on the internet:
